ASIF ALI ZARDARI ERA 2008 TO 2013

Asif Ali Zardari, a man who has a capability to outrace his opponents, is a maxim on the tongue of every citizen of the country. Although it is funny but tragically true that Zardari was dubbed as a best follower of the Machiavelli and he used his office in Presidency not to command but to persuade his coalition partners in the government. Restoration of 973 constitution to its original form was the best achievement, the Zardari government could claim, besides this, enactment of the 18th, 19th and 20th amendments which provided provincial autonomy and most astonishing job was the transfer of presidential powers to parliament. On the other hand, Zardari government was corrupt, incompetent and remained locked horns with the Supreme Court over the issues of the corruption and mismanagement of the national institutes throughout its tenure; thus neglecting the other colossal challenges the government was facing like terrorism, social and economical reforms. Zardari has a devil’s courage to challenge the most powerful intelligence agency ISI over the memo scandal and Swat operation against Taliban but despite this, tragedy with Zardari is that analysts would remember him a man having a credit of transferring democratic power to another elected government first time in history of Pakistan and a man who failed to deliver to the masses the promising future.
